The academic background, at the basis of Mavigex activities, is reflected in the activities devoted to innovation and research of advanced and efficient solutions. Many years of experience in the management and coordination of research projects and technology transfer in Europe make Mavigex the ideal partner for all the organizations who wish to take advantage of these funding opportunities.

Specific expertise in the technology transfer field and industrial research are:

• development of REST and SOAP APIs for the deployment of advanced services for fixed and mobile technologies
• development of applications with multi-device and multi-format synchronization capabilities
• GIS applications with geolocation functionalities
• participation to funded research projects  at National and European level (EC-FP7, ESA)
• support to Public Administrations for the development of applications and services for the citizens
• consulting services for the preparation of project proposals
• development of application platforms with hybrid interfaces between heterogeneous technologies

Areas of competence

Technology transfer and industrial research are fundamental pillars of Mavigex in all areas of operation. Many years of research experience of its key team members has allowed Mavigex to acquire the fundamental know-how in the following areas.

• IP Multimedia Subsystem, the IMS network standardized by 3GPP, is emerging as a new telecommunication architecture between international carriers
• VoIP networks based on SIP and P2P-SIP protocols
• Ad-hoc networks in which communication between devices is strongly limited by the punctual conditions of the system. The creation of VoIP ad-hoc networks is therefore difficult to achieve especially if paired with strict quality parameters
• Vehicular networks are considered as a particular type of ad-hoc network in which the mobile elements form a substrate of connectivity that can support intensive communications.

Expertise

Technology transfer on VoIP networks requires specific skills in different fields of telecommunications, signaling protocols, multimedia coding and real time data transfer.

In addition to these skills on multimedia systems, the understanding of packet-switched networks, such as the network based on IP protocols, is also essential.

Mavigex has many years of experience in academic teaching of such topics, and this represents a key enabler for technology transfer in any field. In addition, thanks to intensive research, Mavigex has specific know-how in the following research areas:

• Extensions of the SIP signaling protocol for IP Multimedia Subsyustem (IMS)
• Quality of Services (QoS) Control for packet-switched telecommunication networks
• Transfer of information on the IP network via stateful and stateless communication systems
• Protocols for the transfer of information in presence of security apparatus on IP network
• Large scale Service Oriented Architectures for multimedia services
• Distributed systems based on P2P-SIP and SIP-H
